WONDERFUL READERS!

We were delighted to attend the Heritage Senior Centre this past week and help Bill and Mary celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary!  It was a lovely surprise for the couple, especially to see some of their family there who they did not expect at all.  The afternoon was a joint celebration of their anniversary and the regular monthly birthday party.  What a wonderful sight to see the hall filled to capacity with family and friends!  My husband still isn’t “up to dancing” but the music was wonderful and it was great to see everyone else enjoy the dancing!  And it is always very rewarding to have friends and even strangers come up to me and tell me how much they enjoy reading our article in the Shopper!

Everyone is still reeling from the news of the devastating bus crash which affected so many people in the area – young lives lost and many families in mourning.   We can only pray for them to be able to get through this, knowing their lives and families will have changed forever.  It is so heartwarming to hear of friends and strangers rallying together to mourn and support each other in their grief.   And the survivors and their families will have their own hard row to hoe to carry on living after being severely injured, and their lives changed forever.  God bless you all in your grief and recovery!

I have been starting to get rid of excess baggage in my house – a huge job which is easier said than done!  We have a computer room/music room for my organ/picture storage room/ office with file cabinets FULL of old files from years gone by and records that one “thinks” one needs to keep.   To say the task is overwhelming is an understatement!  But it must be done and it’s “my job”!!  Hopefully I can get at it before the snow is gone and I prefer to be outdoors getting my yard back in order after an extremely long and hard winter (at least the last three months of it).  I am really wondering what has become of my lawn ornament from Texas – Hosea, the Mexican hombre sitting on his burro, Jennie, on our wooden bridge between the back steps and the garden shed, both of which are still buried in the snow bank!  I have visions of the lawn ornament disintegrating in the snow and if so, I will really be kicking myself for not letting it winter in the garden shed!!   I do, however, probably have plenty of time to do the inside projects before worrying about the outside ones…   There is a big list of items to sell which are not suitable for a garage sale, so I will have to post them on Buy and Sell or some other venue.  Our days of having a garage sale are OVER, as the last few have not been worthwhile – seems everybody already had what I was trying to sell, so no point in that!!

Thankfully a lot of the vinyl siding John had for sale last fall will be picked up as soon as the snow is gone.  There will be quite a bit left, but no doubt he will find someone who needs a good deal..  That would be great – and hopefully the lawn will not have to be reseeded as a result of the siding sitting there half the fall and all winter!
