This has been the strangest summer I can ever remember. A day or two of actual summer, then rainy and windy, and back to cool and wet again. It must be very frustrating for those who are at the cabin at the lake hoping to enjoy SUMMER! I can’t imagine that the water is very warm for swimming…
We just got our yard mowed and it sure looks nice. It is the first time this year that John brought out the riding lawnmower. Won’t take long and it will need a haircut again. I have never mastered the art of driving a riding lawnmower. That’s what I have a husband for…
The Lavatera flowers are there but still hiding under the foliage. It again appears to be a year where the plants are not going to be very high. Some years they have been 4 feet tall, loaded with flowers.
One more month and we have a grandson’s wedding to attend in Manitoba. We don’t see the family very often, so we are really looking forward to it. Then we have another wedding September 1st – John’s niece’s son is getting married in Regina. His Mom has been in Wascana Centre for an extended period of time, as she was unable to walk due to her weight. Last we heard she had been back in her home. Hopefully her health has improved and I am sure she is very excited about the wedding. We look forward to seeing John’s sister’s family, as we haven’t had much contact over the years. I also have an aunt in Regina and hope to be able to visit a bit with her. I boarded at my aunt’s place when I attended Business College after high school. She is 10 years older than me, which makes her 80 ( I just realized)!! Where has the time gone??
Preparation for the annual Heritage Centre summer barbeque is underway. They have 150 seniors signed up already. It is a lot of work, but also a lot of fun. John volunteered to help man the barbeque this year.
As I am sitting here typing this, the T.V. is on in the background and I just heard the most wonderful news story from down in the United States. A young man got a good job, but he had no vehicle and every day he walked 6 miles to and from work. It was somehow brought to the employer’s attention, and when he heard about it, he saw fit to provide the young man with a car to get to work!!! WOW, how often does that happen????
Hopefully my daughter and I will be able to go on some kind of “excursion” before this month ends. We are having a time figuring out exactly where we want to go… John has too much on his plate with vehicle repairs and restoration to be interested in more travels than are necessary. With the two weddings in the next month, that will be enough travel for him!! Have a safe and fun-filled summer!
