FAMILY AND FRIENDS

As of the writing of this article, we are still awaiting arrival of our new grandson. Today is his Mom’s birthday and although he technically is not supposed to be “due” until December, we are certain that he could come any time, as she is very LARGE and has had contractions for over a week already. Praying he comes soon and that all is well…

Our radio in the bedroom comes on automatically at 7 o’clock in the morning and I always look forward to listening to The Lutheran Hour on Sunday mornings. We have been especially blessed since the new young pastor has taken over – it is always a pleasure to hear someone new and “fresh”. He is an excellent new speaker and I will be looking forward to future Sunday mornings to hear what he has to say.

It sure is neat to be able to keep in contact with loved ones near and far over the internet. Our granddaughter Chelsea, who lives in Calgary, today posted photos of her long-awaited trip to Vancouver where her brother, our nephew Bryce, had invited her to be his guest at a very special occasion. She flew out to attend the obviously very exciting, prestigious event – the celebration of the 300th episode of the Canadian TV show “Supernatural”. Bryce has been a set setter with the show for some time already. I am positive it will be an experience Chelsea has put at the top of her “awesome” list. She sent a lot of pictures so she could share it with all her family and friends! What a wonderful brother!

Well, it was great to have a Grey Cup Game to watch last Sunday … Our niece and her husband from Edmonton were in the stands as we watched – they sent us a picture of their “crew” as they were going in – pretty excited to get the game underway! We were happy to see Calgary win.

The news we received from our friend Kaki (who lives in Texas) today was a shock to us. She has had some health issues but fortunately they were able to be resolved. She is recuperating from surgery at her daughter’s home in Fort Worth. Apparently she had a mini stroke, with no permanent damage, that landed her in the E.R., then required surgery to clean out a blockage on the right side of her neck – so blessed that IT was caught before doing permanent damage! She sent us a photo of the stitching to close the wound on the side of her neck – it was the most unique human stitchery I have ever seen – resembles a 10 inch long by 2 inch wide braid going straight down under her ear. When it heals, it may look like a tattoo…

It looks like I am going to either have to buy a new computer or find someone who can help my computer “get its brains back”. It has been going from bad to worse. I think I made a couple of key strokes that affected it and now do not know how to undo that. It has been a very good computer for a lot of years and I am reluctant to give it up. Just have to find the right person who can be of assistance. It is very nice that I have computer access on my cell phone, so I can send and receive messages, but typing out and sending my articles requires me to have a working computer… Meantime, I will be delivering my articles to the Shopper office…
