WELCOMING A NEW MEMBER TO OUR FAMILY

Our newly acquired adult cat is settling in to her new home quite nicely.  Sheamus, our last cat, managed to survive quite nicely for many years being indoors and outdoors – until he disappeared never to return home again.  We have to guard the door so our new cat (Ella)  doesn’t escape.  Our intention is that she is an IN-DOOR cat.  She is truly a pretty cat!   She still likes to be a little “territorial” with the dog, and he is having none of that, so the dander is up, but I think they will get used to each other in due course.

On the way home from Brandon, we made a stop near Binscarth to pick up the beef that John had ordered from a farmer.  It was all cut and wrapped in packages and we were fairly impressed.  We were especially looking forward to a cut of brisket and are anxious to roast it “Texas style” in due course.  We used to watch Lauris Baker cook his briskets in his huge barn in Texas and it was truly delicious!!  We didn’t bring a cooler to pack our wrapped meat in, but it stayed frozen in the boxes with a heavy blanket over top until we got home.   We went right on home from there, just stopping at my brother’s to say goodbye and thanks for our earlier visit with him.  He has to get his roof re-done soon, and the last bad storm they had took the paint off two sides of his house – we had helped him paint the house two summers ago and now it needs paint again, thanks to Mother Nature…

We are working on raking the leaves on the front yard.  Haven’t even got half way and the trailer is full….  There is still quite a thick autumn carpet left, as we took turns raking and had to go in for a rest before the whole lawn was done.   The garden is “done” and we are happy that we changed our minds about not planting it this year,  Won’t have to be buying potatoes any time soon…  We had two rows of corn, but the cobs were puny – will be buying our corn at the grocery store next year…we have seen some pretty awesome cobs there!  The cucumbers were good but with many jars of pickles down in the cold room from last year, I had no interest in making any pickles this year.  We are just eating them as they mature.  I am thankful that my husband is very helpful, as I seem to have lost the interest in canning and cooking that I used to have….  Must be the age of the beast…

Just about time to put away all my lawn and garden ornaments for the winter.  We were happy to see the sewage sucker guy come by this morning to empty our sewage tank.  They must be busy guys this time of year…

We would love to go down to Texas to see our Marble Falls area friends one more time before our US. funds and passports run out – God willing and the creek don’t rise.
