Finally all the yard work is done. The garden is tilled and we are happy to have all the weeds buried for this year… I am so thankful to have a clothesline to hang my laundry out. I haven’t used the dryer since last spring. Nothing smells as good as fresh laundry that has been dried outdoors!! I can hardly wait to get into the bed when the sheets come off the line… How “old school” is that??!!
We gave up on raking the leaves after taking a couple of loads to the dump. Now it’s “the good Lord put them there, He can take them away!!”
Thankfully John’s hip has not been giving him grief lately. I think tilling the garden took its toll, but it hasn’t been bothering him since. Getting everything winterized has been on his agenda, as well as assisting our son in building a garden shed out of the door panels he had left over. This year being what it is, we well might see the snow flying soon and winter setting in to stay. The new boat is parked in its’ winter spot and John will be anxious to get it out on the water as soon as possible next spring!! If we perchance come across some nice “Indian Summer”, it is easily accessible to take a trip to the nearest water.
We have been receiving photos of our little granddaughter in B.C. who hurt her leg trampolining. It appears that the damage is minimal and she is recuperating well. We never had a trampoline when we were kids – I don’t think it would be something I would have enjoyed anyway. All the kids in our neighbourhood (and there were quite a few) got together and played Anti-I-Over, Hide and Seek and other old-fashioned games until we had to go in at dusk.
I sure wish I could find a place to buy 81 mg “baby aspirins” that dissolve in your mouth here in Saskatchewan. I have tried every place in P.A.and they all have “chewable” aspirins, but not the dissolvable ones I am looking for. They are available at any drugstore or Dollar Store in the States, but I sure cannot find them up here. We are planning to go to go on a trip West again, but not for a month or so. I often have a difficult time sleeping at night and I am told that the one pill I have recently been prescribed causes this. I used to take one quick dissolving baby aspirin if I was not able to fall asleep, and it is very frustrating not to be able to get them here. I have purchased more than one bottle claiming to be “dissolvable” aspirins here and they were NOT what they claimed to be. Good thing I was smart enough not to buy the bigger bottle, as I would have been EXTREMELY disappointed to waste my money. Might have to make a quick trip down to Minot yet…
We had a wonderful Cowboy Church at Birch Hills this past Sunday. The music and singing was great. John did a couple of readings and everyone enjoyed them. It was a pleasure to see people there who had never attended before, as well as lots of “regulars”. Afterwards, the Cowboy Church “crew” was invited over to Dodie and Celeste’s home for a little visit. It was a wonderful evening! We are so thankful for our dear friends!
