BACK TO NORMAL

First of all, Pastor Baker’s symptoms disappeared and the next time we saw him he had all four of his little granddaughters on his lap at one time!  They had a shower at the church to welcome the little girls into their family.  It is amazing how much the two older girls resemble their new adoptive mother – they are both dark haired, while the two younger girls are blonde.  This couple really has their hands full with four new children all under 6 years old.  Their cup certainly runneth over.  Watching them interact was very special.  It is obvious both parents have a great deal of patience to deal with their new family, and will need it all! Linvel’s wife, Shirley, aka GRAMSY, is in seventh heaven!  These four little girls are also my dear friend Ollie Ann’s new great granddaughters.  She is referred to  as “MeeMaw”.

I have been dealing with Blue Cross since my little stint in the hospital and am so impressed with the employees and Saskatchewan Blue Cross in general.  They certainly do everything they can to alleviate concerns of those requiring their services at times of stress.  They make you feel confident everything will work out.

Dear husband is spending all his free time peeling and cracking pecans.  Our pecan lady has said we should feel free to pick as many in her yard in town as we wish.  Gives John something to keep his hands busy in the evenings sitting in the RV…   I have not yet made my first batch of cinammon buns but I do have the frozen rolls waiting for the right time…

Last Tuesday the Camp and its Directors invited many of the neighbours and some friends from Marble Falls and other places to a meal and presentation in the Dining Hall.  I was able to help a little bit but cutting up vegetables for the beautiful salad they made.  It was an excellent meal with a poppyseed chicken casserole, Janet’s special rice dish, and green beans.   We had seen the video before, but trust that it impacted those present who had not seen it.  The Camp can always use more supporters for the plans that it has for the coming years.  The big project in progress is to tear down the old laundry room/bath houses that are between the two main buildings, to allow for a large badly needed parking area.  Our RV is parked in that area for the time being, and landscaping is scheduled to begin in the next few weeks.

Our poor daughter in Manitoba and her husband are STILL waiting for word on what the Emergency Measures Organization is going to pay them for their flooded out home (since May).  The first offer was totally unacceptable so they went the route of obtaining help from their MLA and other influential avenues to see if they could not get enough money to pay off the small mortgage they had on their home and at least put a down payment on another home and purchase furniture.  They lost EVERYTHING in the flood and have been renting a very small house in town since the flood.  They have been advised not to rebuild on their previous property, as it is guaranteed to flood again.  We are amazed at how they have handled this situation, with very little whining and complaining.  They have a suitable property nearby in mind which has a nice home on it that is for sale, and sure would like to be moved in before the snow flies.

No chance of any snow flying here any time soon. Air conditioning is required and the temperatures are not expected to go below 80 any time soon…
