Our Journey Helping Those In Need Throughout North America

John & Linda Braun

Another Road Trip

Well, with just the odd half decent summer day so far in Saskatchewan as of July 20th, we were looking forward to some real summer weather in B.C. and Alberta.  Our trip agenda included firstly going to check up on brother George in Kelowna, secondly, visiting our daughter and family in Gray Creek B.C. to help her celebrate her 50th birthday, and thirdly, accepting an invitation to visit our sister-in-law and husband in Sandpoint, Idaho, as they have FINALLY moved into the home we started building for them 5 long years ago (they had been living in their very comfortable garage all this time).

Alzheimers Prayer

Do not ask me to remember
Don’t try to make me understand
Let me rest and know you’re with me
Kiss my cheek and hold my hand.

Classic Car Show Time

FINALLY summer has arrived for a weekend!!   We took our classic car to the 19th Annual Canadian Tire Car Show, probably the biggest turnout of antique, classic and special interest vehicles they have ever had.  It was really neat to reminisce about the first ever Canadian Tire Car Show.  Our son Darren was working at Canadian Tire at the time and our family having had a history with the Klassic Kruizers Car Club, Jeff asked John if he would help them set up the First Annual Canadian Tire Car Show.  They planned it for weeks in advance.   What a day!  In conjunction with the show, car clubs from all over the province were invited to bring their cars and participate in the latest car enthusiast fad, Valve Cover Racing.  Car club members from all over Saskatchewan came in their classic vehicles, ready to compete with their various valve covers converted to “racing machines”.  In anticipation of a great time, John and Darren had built a variety of souped-up valve covers on wheels.  Come the day of the event, although the skies were cloudy, threatening rain, it was not a cold day, and the races commenced.  It poured rain!  All kinds of inventive rain gear came out and everyone enjoyed the day as if they were all in their right minds!!!  It was forever after known as a great time at “THE MONSOON NATIONALS”!

Odds and Ends

Here I am again, complaining that they just don’t make things the same as they used to!  I have carried on my Mom’s use of Palmolive dish detergent – she always maintained that NOTHING worked as good as Palmolive.  The few times I have decided to try something different, I had to agree with her.  My husband has used it for hair shampoo for over half his life.  As soon as he uses any regular shampoo, he gets dandruff, so there has always been Palmolive in the house.  However, instead of the two squirts to do a sink full of dishes these days, about 8 are required in order to have sufficient suds for the pots and pans!!  First question was:  where did I buy it?  At a dollar store?  Nope, the last bottle was from Canadian Tire and I am sure they don’t sell watered-down detergent.  I also use my dishwasher, but sometimes it is just as easy to wash up a few dishes in the sink…  Sure is too bad it has to go this way…

Rain Rain Go Away!!! And Mosquitoes Too!!!

Recently on CJWW’s Boots and Salutes, someone mentioned the Smart Meter situation again and I tried to get in that day, without success, to provide a site where one can get more information about Smart Meters.  I called my cousin from Tennessee, who is in Saskatchewan for the summer.  He is an expert on this matter, as he has been looking into the matter for several years.  He suggested anyone interested should google “Smart Meter Health Issues”, and in particular, British Columbia references and Maine Supreme Court.  He is adamant that everyone needs to know that there are many people who suffer severe health issues associated with installation of these meters, and he knows that firsthand.  The doctor who examined him in Dallas, Texas, earlier this year confirmed the low radio frequency waves are the cause of all of his symptoms.   He commented that taking 5 minutes out of your life to do a bit of investigation can lead to many hours of information.  And we REALLY need to be aware of how we may be affected.
