Our Journey Helping Those In Need Throughout North America

John & Linda Braun

WINTER JUST ARRIVED!

Wouldn’t you know it – we had a long awaited specialist appointment in Saskatoon first thing in the morning and got snowed in overnight!    Thankfully the medical office was very understanding and it was no problem to re-schedule.  We called the “Highway Hotline” and it obviously needs drastic upgrading, as it was no use whatsoever!   And as I look out our window as I am typing, the sky is clear and there is little or no wind.  Mother Nature can sure screw you up sometimes…

WHAT A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS!

We were invited to our son’s home to spend Christmas with them and decided to take our little Yorkie dog along so he didn’t have to stay at home alone.  They have three small dogs and they seem to get along well.  They also have a full grown Bearded Dragon in large aquarium beside the chesterfield in their livingroom and our little dog got up on the back of it where John was sitting.  What a unique situation to watch – love at first sight between a dog and a Bearded Dragon!  He just about went nuts – and the reptile was definitely leading him on!  Our granddaughter, Emily, handles their reptiles and they are unique pets.  John actually had to take the dog home because it was too stressful to watch the critters react to each other through the glass!  The dog was hyperventilating like a love-sick fool!

BEST CHRISTMAS PRESENT EVER!

What a wonderful gift for Christmas – a beautiful baby great grandson, born in Prince Albert Hospital this past week!  He is absolutely the sweetest little bundle of joy ever!  He is a real little cutie! (contrary to our sister-in-law’s belief that all newborns look like “little lizards” and that apparently included her three).  His  name is Xavier.  This will be a Christmas to remember!

CHRISTMAS AROUND THE CORNER…

We have been pretty lucky so far with very little snow. Just enough to make it feel like winter. Not too heavy duty on the shovelling, although John has had his snow shovel out a couple of times... We are thankful to be able to put our vehicle in the garage and not have to deal with snow or ice (yet).

GEORGE & VIRGINIA

It is tough living so far away when friends and family are suffering! Our sister-in-law Rita and her daughter, Donna, from Brandon, decided it was past time to pay a visit to brother George in Kelowna. Rita is now walking with a walker and/or a cane, and Donna decided to accompany her to fly to Kelowna to visit Uncle George, as her travelling days may soon be over. Unfortunately when they arrived, it was just in time to find him in distress with several TIA’s. He has “do not resuscitate” orders in the nursing home, as well as instructions that he is not to be taken to the hospital – just let nature take its course. What a relief it was for them to have the TIA’s subside after a while, and they were able to have a good visit several days in a row. They will be heading home soon and are thankful for the time they were able to spend with George, and to be ‘there’ for Mary in a tough time.
