FORGET “IT’S RAINING, IT’S POURING” – IT’S SNOWING!!!

Well, I guess it was inevitable! Our intention was to head out West today, but a drive in the snow is simply not appealing. In addition, our little Yorkie dog appears to be in need of some veterinary attention, as our daughter-in-law who does his grooming (which was long overdue) advised he apparently has an ear infection that requires antibiotics. So here we sit, watching the snow coming down…until it’s time to take the dog in.

TIMES DO CHANGE

Although the “wedding season” seems to have wound down, we are now waiting for the “thank you cards”. They certainly appear to be a thing of the past. Nowadays it appears that CASH is the preferred wedding gift (of course, the more the better), but it seems so “impersonal” that we have included a small gift in addition to a “contribution to the cause”. Two months later, we have received no confirmation or thank you whatsoever. Old-fashioned common courtesy seems to be non-existent.

Well I can hardly believe my timing for this subject… Usually it is “out” a day or two, but if things go in the right way, this article will be just in time to let you know that Miles for Mary. The annual fundraiser for the Senior Transportation Program is happening from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Heritage Centre on Friday September 28th and you are all invited!

LOVE THOSE STOCK CAR RACES!

Last week we took the opportunity to attend the stock car races at Wyant Group Raceway. It so happened that my cousin, Wayne Osborne from Regina, who is an avid stock car racer along with his two brothers, was racing and it seemed to be a great opportunity to “kill two birds with one stone”.

PRAYING FOR FRIENDS IN THE DEEP SOUTH

The news of extreme bad weather in the southern United States is very disturbing. It brings back memories of our years of service with Mennonite Disaster Service where many lives were lost and homes were destroyed in Hurricane Rita and Hurricane Harvey, as well as other devastating storms. No doubt MDS will again be calling for volunteers to help rebuild.
