Our Journey Helping Those In Need Throughout North America

John & Linda Braun

ODDS AND ENDS/THIS AND THAT…

We were watching the football game the other night between Saskatchewan and Hamilton. When I met my husband, I can honestly say that watching football was not in my list of favorite things to do. However, over the years, I have grown to enjoy it (as they say, “beat’em or join’em”). The same thing happened with playing Canasta…

ENJOYING THE SUMMER WEATHER WHILE WE CAN

This has been the strangest summer I can ever remember. A day or two of actual summer, then rainy and windy, and back to cool and wet again. It must be very frustrating for those who are at the cabin at the lake hoping to enjoy SUMMER! I can’t imagine that the water is very warm for swimming…

We just got our yard mowed and it sure looks nice. It is the first time this year that John brought out the riding lawnmower. Won’t take long and it will need a haircut again. I have never mastered the art of driving a riding lawnmower. That’s what I have a husband for…

HAPPY CANADA DAY WITH OUR FAMILY IN B.C.

We got back just in time to enjoy some good weather, and then watch all the images of the damage done by the storms which blew through Lake Country and other places. It seems to be the weirdest year for weather! I don’t recall it ever being so “up and down”. I remember when I was a kid, when summer came, we kids would often camp outside overnight in a makeshift tent in our yard, and it really was “SUMMER”. This year we get a hot hot day (so hot you don’t even want to go outdoors) and at night it cools off so much you have to close your window… I love having my windows open in summer - but not this summer!

HAPPY CANADA DAY WITH OUR FAMILY IN B.C.

On our way to Kelowna from Gray Creek, we had to catch the Needles Ferry. It is a very short ferry ride across to the other side. We could have caught the “next” Ferry after we arrived at the landing, but we got side-tracked by an interesting Flea Market just up the hill. We did not find anything we could not live without – until we walked by the freshly baked cinnamon buns! Wow, one would have fed both of us, but there’s no way I was sharing!!! Best cinnamon buns ever!! They were closed on our way back across the Ferry (probably a good thing!)

SAFE TRAVELS SO FAR…

First stop on our way to British Columbia to visit brother George and his wife Mary in Kelowna, was our granddaughter, Chelsea’s in South Calgary. That was a 9 hour drive, so we had the evening to visit before retiring for the night. First thing the fellows did was to haul out the two kayaks which are to be delivered to our daughter and her family at Gray Creek, B.C. They fit quite nicely into our van and we were happy we could be “of service”. We had a nice visit with our granddaughter Chelsea and her husband Bryan, along with Chelsea’s twin brother, Daniel, who lives with them. He is still “looking” for a significant other…
