Through Rose Coloured Glasses
When I travel, my airline of choice is WestJet. The employees at WestJet are always friendly and helpful and they always have a smiling faces. Over the past couple of years, I have loved the stories of their Christmas surprises for their customers. Recently, it turned out that WestJet has the spirit of sharing not only at Christmas but throughout the year.
Two weeks ago, we all breathed a sigh of relief as dozens of mine workers at the Allan Potash Mine were safely brought to the surface after spending 24 hours trapped underground because of a fire. We are fortunate such stringent safety laws have been the norm in Saskatchewan, and in Canada, for decades.
It is important for women to know of the struggles and successes of other women, and to use those successes as inspiration in our own lives. Zainab Salbi is a shining example of what one woman can accomplish and is living proof that a single voice and one set of hands can do great things.
As I drove to work this past Tuesday, I noticed the hustle and bustle of children going to school, some walking with their parents or being dropped off by school buses. There is something bittersweet of that first day of school and it is an emotionally charged day for students and for their parents.
