December 19, 1910 – February 17, 2014
With sad hearts, we say farewell to our cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Throughout her 103 amazing years, Edith touched many lives with her gentle spirit, her positive disposition, her strong faith, and her enduring love. Edith was born Dec.19, 1910 in Langham, SK, the eldest daughter of Charles and May Castle. She graduated as a registered nurse in 1932 from St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon. In 1936, she married Lloyd Davidson, and together they farmed in the community of Howard Creek, where they raised 6 children. Edith is lovingly remembered by her children: Beverley (Murray) Winger; Bernice Ruttan; Bill Davidson, Marie (Don) Keir, and Velma Davidson. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson. She has one beloved sister, Clara Martin (95) and numerous nieces and nephews. Edith was predeceased by her husband Lloyd, her son Carl Davidson and his wife Julie Lapointe, her son-in-law Ken Ruttan, her parents, her brother John Castle, and sisters Jane Elliot and Nancy Gosselin. The family gratefully acknowledges the love, care and compassion Edith received from her extended family, dear friends of all ages, her Mitchell Place family, Dr. Craig Elmer, and the staff of Level 6 (Victoria Hospital) and Lakeland Trail (Herb Bassett Home). Her funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 at Gray's Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow at Howard Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully accepted to Herb Bassett Home (Lakeland Trail), Rays of Hope for Uganda, or the Howard Creek Cemetery Fund.
