John Jack "Jack" Carrier

October 17th, 1943 - April 7th, 2021

It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of John “Jack” Carrier, Late of Weldon, SK at the age of 77 years. On October 17, 1943, in Prince Albert, SK a baby was brought into this world, making Henry and Jean Carrier happy parents. Henry and Jean named their handsome baby boy John Henry Carrier but called him “Jack “as a child, which continued through his adult life. His parents spoiled him with nothing but unconditional love and attention until their passing.

After attending school in Prince Albert, SK, Jack joined the Canadian Armed Forces. In 1963 when he left the Armed Forces, Jack remained in Victoria for a short time returning to Prince Albert, SK. Once Jack was back in Prince Albert, he met the love of his life, his wife June Carrier along with a baby girl named Ingrid.

The new family soon moved to Calgary, AB, and added two more branches to their family of three - sons Ian and Joel. The Carrier Family moved back to Saskatchewan, settling in June’s hometown of Weldon, SK.

Jack worked for the CO-OP in Weldon, SK, and Kinistino, SK. Jack spent time coaching hockey for his sons Ian, Joel, and their friends, which gave Jack the nickname “Coach”. Jack was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Jack spent several years working for the Commissionaires in Prince Albert, SK posted at the Victoria Hospital, SIAST, Pulp Mill, and many other sites around the city.

Jack always had a welcoming smile with a mischievous grin for anyone he encountered. Jack’s string of bad luck which would make a” black cat scared to cross the street” continued throughout his life and ultimately led to his early retirement in 2009. Jack’s passing on April 7th, 2021 was in the comfort of his home with a peaceful sleep, which he deserved due to all the hardships with his health.

Jack’s pride and joy was his family, which grew over the years with his two daughters-in-law, son-in-law, grandsons, granddaughters, grandsons-in-law, puppy & four great-grandchildren that he got to see before his passing.

Jack loved to pass his time teasing everyone and visiting. He enjoyed being outside, whether it was hunting, fishing, roasting a hot dog, berry picking, or sitting on the deck at his home in Weldon.

No matter what “we” called you, whether it was Honey, Dad, Grandpa, Papa, or Gigi, we all love you and you will be greatly missed. Thank you for all the love and joy you showed us. Love your Family! Arrangements pending. Arrangements in care of MacKenzie Chapel & Crematorium – Shellbrook Funeral Home. Brian & Bev Stobbs, Renee Phaneuf & Mark Gyoerick. www.MacKenzieChapel.ca 306.763.8488.
