John Anderson

October 17, 1948 ~ May 15, 2021

It is with great sadness that the family of John Anderson announce his passing on May 15, 2021 at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, SK at the age of 72 years.

John was born on October 17, 1948 in Clifton, Newfoundland to Jubal and Rachel Anderson.  John married Valorie, the love of his life, on August 18, 1973.  John always had a project or two on the go and in the summertime, he loved to keep his yard manicured. The winter months kept him busy passionately cheering on the Edmonton Oilers or working on a matchbook model that he meticulously would cut matches for each piece and fit it in. For many years, John was active in fundraising for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, as this cause was important to him. He had a very quick and sharp sense of humour and could talk to anyone about anything giving him a personality many were drawn to.  Everyone loved John especially his granddaughters that brought him so much joy to his life.  John was selfless, kind and always there for those who needed him.

John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years, Valorie Anderson; daughters  Lisa Anderson of Edmonton, AB and Kristin (Jack) Gill of Paddockwood, SK; granddaughters  Addisyn Gill and Caydance Gill; sisters and brothers:  Melvina Bailey, Evelyn (Harold) Carberry, Earle (Sandra) Anderson, Hubert (Norma) Anderson, Ralph (Sharie Levesque) Anderson, Winnie (Cyril) Goodyear, Raymond Anderson and Donna (Bill) Watton; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Clarence George, Pat (Calvin) Davidson, Beth (Dennis) Woolsey, Cecil (Debbie) Parfitt, Ruth (George) Moskal, Charlotte (Russell) Scott; as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

John was predeceased by his parents Jubal and Rachel Anderson, sister Betty George; brothers Bob Anderson, Jubal (Yvonne) Anderson; mother-in-law Stella Parfitt; sister-in-law Gladys Anderson; brothers-in-law Albert Bailey and Charlie (Bernice) Parfitt.

The family would like to thank the ICU nurses and doctors at the Victoria Hospital for their exceptional care of John.

In lieu of other tributes, those wishing to do so may donate in John’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, 26 – 1738 Quebec Avenue, Saskatoon, SK  S7K 1V9 or online at www.heartandstroke.ca.

“…. the man of the hour is taking his final bow.  Goodbye for now.”

It is at John’s request that there will be no service.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray's Funeral Chapel, (306) 922-4729.
