September 17th, 1954 - September 14th, 2021
It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Velinda Lynn Humeniuk, late of Prince Albert, SK on September 14th, 2021, at the age of 66 years. Velinda was the only child of Paul & Mabel Walters. She attended Emerson High School in Emerson, MB before moving to Winnipeg, MB to pursue an education in hairdressing.
In 1972, Velinda married her only husband, Karl Humeniuk. Together they moved to Altona, MB. This is where they had their first daughter, Melissa. Circumstances shortly after took them to Spiritwood, SK. This is where they had their son, Michael, and eventually transferring to Birch Hills, SK.
Velinda loved her robust career in the beauty industry, serving at many cosmetics counters for several department stores, as well as running her own salon both out of her home and in Birch Hills. She also became very skilled at doing nails. Velinda is well known for her love of bling.
With her husband, she gained a love of relaxing at the lake and fishing. Later in life, she gained a love of travel, taking her to Mexico and to China where her son Michael had settled. Over her lifetime she also rescued dogs from the local shelters and adored them.
Velinda is survived by her daughter Melissa (David) Owen, her son Michael (Yan) Humeniuk, and her three grandchildren, Devan Humeniuk, Acadia MacInnis, and Brendan Salen. She is predeceased by her parents, Mabel and Paul Walters, and her husband Karl Humeniuk.
Due to COVID and her son living in China, a memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Prince Albert SPCA or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
